Enhancements:

Release 5.7  PTF 2201

  • Microsoft Excel (xlsx) format supported. Spool Organizer components can process spool entries into the Microsoft Excel (xlsx) format. Email attachments, DIRSPLE and DIROUTQ commands and Sple display/print functions are included in the support.

Release 5.7  PTF 1805

  • Duplicate Job/Spool Entries supported. Spool Organizer components can process spool entries in the system that have non-unique job or spool numbers.

Release 5.7  PTF 1803

  • Disk Encryption Option added. Spool Organizer optionally can encrypt spool data segments when writing them to your hard disk or backup media. This will prevent spool entry data from being stored in clear format. The industry-standard AES encryption algorithm is used.

Release 5.7  PTF 0000

  • ASP Support added. Spool Organizer product libraries can be installed in ASPs other than the System ASP (ASP = 1). Basic ASPs (1 – 32) and Independent ASPs (33 – 256) are supported.
  • Multiple Instances per LPAR supported. Spool Organizer can have multiple instances within the same
    LPAR. Each instance operates independently of the others. Multiple instances can be running at the same
    time.

Release 5.6  PTF 1203

  • Online Database Mass Change functions added. Mass changes can be made to the Online Database. For example the administrator can change the Type and Period to ND – 30 to a large number of entries. Two methods can be used:
    • CHGSOENT command. Allows the administrator to specify a search spec and the fields to change.
    • BSOMCOLE API. Allows a HLL developer to write a simple program to change entries in the Online Database.
  • MGROPTE command. The MGROPTE (Migrate Optical Entries) command now has the RMVOPTE (remove optical entries) parameter, which provides the option to remove migrated entries from the Optical Catalog.
  • DIRSPLE and DIROUTQ commands. The DIRSPLE and DIROUTQ commands now have the CMBOVPRT (combine overprint lines) option, which allow the option to place all print records with the same line number into the same print record.

Release 5.6  PTF 0000

  • Spool PDF Overlay/400™ interface added. Generated PDF files can be created by the Spool PDF Overlay/400 product, which supports the following:
    • Overlays
    • Images
    • Multiple, Embedded Fonts
    All Spool Organizer functions that create PDF files will support the Spool PDF Overlay/400 interface. Contact BDS for a 30-day free trial of the Spool PDF Overlay/400 product.

Release 5.5 PTF 0601:

  • Optical Migration Aid added. Spool entries archived to an Optical Library can be migrated to tape (or ARCFILE) or to the Online Database. Corresponding Optical Catalog entries can be migrated. Index entries pointing to optical entries will be migrated.

Release 5.5 PTF 0000:

  • Encryption option added. E-mail attachments and IFS files can be encrypted. The industry standard Rijndael algorithm with a 128 bit key is supported. The encrypted file is Windows exe file that users execute. Users must enter a password to access the attachment. All SpoolOrganizer functions that support E-mail support encryption.

Release 5.4 PTF 0302:

  • EMLSPLE command, multiple attachments. Users can specify more than 1 attachment. Each attachment can be a different spool entry, type, or attachment name.
  • CSV/TSV, headings option. Users can specify column headings for e-mail part types CSV or TSV.
  • E-mail Bundle entries, attachment name/type.  For each Bundle Entry, users can specify an attachment type and an attachment name.
  • DIRSPLE & DIROUTQ, Data Authorities. Users can specify Data Authorities to assign to created IFS files.

Release 5.4 PTF 0000:

  • E-mail, Bcc Addresses.  Users can specify Bcc (Blind Carbon Copy) addresses on any spool organizer E-mail function. Bcc addresses will not appear in the message header.
  • E-mail, New Address Types.  Users can specify User Profiles and SNADS User IDs for From, To, or Bcc addresses. Spool Organizer will look up the SMTP address.
  • E-mail and IFS, TSV format.  Users can now E-mail spool entries or write spool entries to IFS in Tab Separated Values (TSV) format. TSV files can be imported into most spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Define Bundle Entry Partial Print Enhanced. Administrators can now define more than 5 relations for Start of segment or End of Segment, Data Search.
  • Monitors, Process SAV. Spool Organizer Monitors, when defined to process Held entries, can optionally process entries in a SAV status.
  • Stored Search Specs. Users can now narrow down the list of Stored Search Specifications viewed from the Display Online Entries screen.
  • Mixed Case Cmd Parms. Spool Organizer command parameters that usually have lower case now support the *MIXED attribute, allowing lower case to be entered without putting the text in quotes.
  • Partuial Print, new attributes. Bundle partial print and Display a Spool entry, partial print functions now support new attributes: OUTBIN, FNTCHRSET, CDEDNT, MUKTIUP, REDUCE, JUSTIFFY, CORNERSTITCH, EDGRSTITCH, SADLSTITCH.
  • Print, Prompting. Print spool entry (option 6) functions allow the user to prompt (F4) to change certain attributes such as FORMTYPE.
  • E-mail Subject substitution values. The E-mail Specification, Subject attribute allows substitution values such as *JOBNAME, *SPLFILE, etc.

Release 5.3 PTF 0111:

  • BDS Software Server access: Users can now access the BDS Software Server directly from their AS/400. Software downloads and current release information can be retrieved.

Release 5.3 PTF 0106:

  • ARCOUTQ, OPTOUTQ Commands: The ARCOUTQ and OPTOUTQ commands now can select spool entries to archive based on a user specified relation (less than, equal to, etc.) to the spool entries Job date.  Also, a user exit program can be called to aid in the selection of spool entries to archive.

Release 5.3 PTF 0000:

  • Web Browser Interface: SpoolOrganizer user functions can be accessed via the Internet using a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer. The Display Online Entries and Work with Active Bundles options are available thru the web. Through the web, users can display Online spool entries or Bundle Entries, and download them into their PC the following formats:
    • Adobe PDF
    • HTML
    • Column Separated Values (CSV)
    • Text

Release 5.2 PTF 0000:

  • Write spool entries to IFS Directory:  The SpoolOrganizer DIRSPLE and DIROUTQ commands can write spool entries into an IFS Directory.  Users can display the spool entries from web browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer.  Text, Adobe PDF, HTML, and CSV formats are supported.  Developers can place these commands into their CL programs and application job streams..
  • E-Mail Spool Entry (EMLSPLE) command enhanced:  A SPECNAME parameter has been added to the EMLSPLE command.  This allows the user to override the CSV/PDF Spec name on E-Mail spec.

  • Blind Carbon Copy (Bcc) addresses: The EMLDTAF, EMLSPLF, and EMLIFSF commands allow the user to specify Bcc recipients in addition to or instead of To recipients. Bcc recipients will not appear in the message header.
  • New Address types: Addresses (From, To, and Bcc) can now be specified as USRPRF(userid) or SNADSUSR(aaaa bbbb). E-mail utilities will retrieve and substitute the user’s SMTP address.
  • Tab Separated Values (TSV): TSV, which is similar to Comma Separated Values (CSV), is now supported as an output file type.
  • Command Parms, Mixed Case: The Mixed Case attribute is now supported, allowing users to enter lower case into many parameters (addresses, subject, etc) without having to enclose the values in quote marks.
  • Created File CCSID set: The CCSID attribute of created IFS files (DIRDTAF and DIRSPLF cmds) is now set to the specified ASCII CCSID.
